The mark consists of a circle having a diamond shape badge with rounded edges stating RESERVE curved slightly downward, 1947 generally horizontal, LOS ANGELES curved with its middle pushed downward, and POLICE curved slightly upward, this wording vertically stacked; a circular band around the circle stating LOS ANGELES POLICE FOUNDATION RESERVE at the top part of the band, and the Latin words ADJUVE VOLUNARI in the bottom portion of the band with decorative upward flourishes within the band on both sides of the Latin words, the band bordered by narrow rings.
