The stylized word "American" is center justified directly above a threefold encircled image of a frayed, stylized American flag. The east quadrant immediately outside of the stylized center circle contains three shotgun slugs, as does the immediate area outside the west quadrant, for a total of six shotgun slugs, three on either side. Within the center of the stylized inner circle, directly beneath the frayed, stylized American flag, is a stylized spear affixed to a shotgun. There are three length graduated knives extending from the base of the stylized spear. The stylized abbreviation "EST." for the word established and the stylized numeric "1866" flank either side of the base of the exterior circle. The stylized word "Freedman" is center justified directly beneath the threefold encircled image.
