Between the vertical sides of the ladder at the height of the top horizontal rung is a rectangular rail that runs parallel to the top deck of the ladder and perpendicular to the rungs of the ladder. Two of the vertical sides of the ladder increase in width towards the bottom of the ladder. Within the widened portion of the side of the ladder are three vertical, parallel and equally spaced depressions of increasing length.
