The mark consists of a religious shield in white outlined in alternating concentric white, gray and black ovals, with the innermost oval appearing as a blue braided rope with the ovals being pointed at the top and bottom, with a silver cross on a blue triangle with a curved top covering the shield and a blue star at the intersection of the lines of the cross below the design of a bishop's hat. The bishop's hat is in gold outlined in black, with gold and black crosses, ovals and rectangles and extends to form two blue and gold wings and features gold and black spears. The wording "seal of the diocese of Texas 1838 1849" with dots between "Texas" and "1838" and between "1838" and "1849", all in blue, appears along the border of an outer oval shape with the design of a Texas longhorn bull in black and white at the bottom point of the oval. The black rectangle is not a feature of the mark and merely serves as background.
