The certification mark, as used or intended to be used by persons authorized by the certifier, certifies or is intended to certify that the goods provided have met the standards set forth by the Harris Tweed Authority and by its predecessors and as currently codified in the Harris Tweed Act 1993, namely, that the origin and method of manufacture of the tweed made in Scotland is from pure virgin wool, spun, dyed and finished in the outer Hebrides and handwoven by the islanders at their homes in the Islands of Lewis, Harris, North Uist, Benbecula, South Uist, Barra, and their several purtenances, and all known as the Outer Hebrides.
