THE DESIGN OF THE "INSIGNIA OF GRAND CROSS OF THE ROYAL ORDER OF THE LION OF RWANDA"
The mark consists of a stylized shield partitioned horizontally at the center by a three-row black-and-white checked pattern, the top half of the shield is colored purple and the bottom half green. In the top half of the shield there is a white castle with two towers with black masonry lines and blue windows and door, and a black cross above the door. In the bottom half there is a white and silver rose, with a golden seed in the center of the rose. There are five black cross-like design on the outer portion of the rose. Above the shield is the coronet of a Maltese-style baron in gold with green jewels and white pearls, emanating from which is a silver barred helmet, having two black swans facing each other and each holding in its beak a white rose, both swans being on a purple, white, silver and black colored torse with purple and white mantling. The shield is supported by a gold lion on the left which is rampant and facing forwards, and on the right is a black deerhound with a white blaze on its chest, also rampant, all standing upon a green mound. Hanging from the shield is the insignia of Grand Cross of the Royal Order of the Lion of Rwanda, composed of a red sash edged in purple with a bow, and suspended from a golden Rwandan crown it has a gold lion on a red cartouche in the center of the insignia, which has wavy gold rays each side of the horizontal and vertical and three silver rays at each diagonal. Below the mound of green is a stylized banner in silver and white with the wording "FORTIORES CONIUNCTI" in black, therein; and above the black swans is a stylized banner in silver and white with the wording "PRO REGINA PRO REX PRO HUMANITAS" in black, therein.
