"SAIPAN" AND THE NON-LATIN CHARACTERS THAT TRANSLITERATE TO "SAI BAN"
The mark consists of the wording "IMPERIAL PALACE" with the word "SAIPAN" located beneath. A flower design is located above the wording "IMPERIAL PALACE". Two lines extend from either side of the word "SAIPAN". Six Chinese characters are located beneath the word "SAIPAN". The Chinese characters are pronounced "BO HUA HUANG GONG SAI BAN". The "BO" character can be roughly translated to mean "plentiful" or as a verb "to win" or "to get"; the "HUA" character can be roughly translated to mean "splendid" or "magnificent". The combination of "BO" and "HUA", however, does not have any dictionary meaning. The "HUANG" and "GONG" characters together mean "palace", and the "SAI" and "BAN" characters together is the Chinese name of "Saipan". A shaded circle appears between the fourth and fifth Chinese characters.
