The certification mark, as intended to be used by authorized persons, is intended to certify that the goods in connection with which it is used are sweet potatoes and are grown by authorized growers within the Vardaman sweet potato production area of Mississippi consisting of Calhoun, Chickasaw, Marshall, Tate, Panola, Lafayette, Pontotoc, Lee, Monroe, Clay, Lowndes, Oktibbeha, Choctaw, Montgomery, Grenada, Tallahatchie, Yalobusha, and Webster counties.

The mark consists of an image of a sweet potato embossed with the word "VARDAMAN". The word "VARDAMAN" is spelled with letters that generally match the contour of the sweet potato. The words "THE SWEETEST" are above the sweet potato, and the words "SWEET POTATOES" are below the sweet potato. The entire image and words are partially enclosed by a circular border.
