The certification mark, as intended to be used by authorized persons, is intended to certify if an artist produces goods that the artist's business or studio is American owned and operated; if involved in a wholesale or retail industry, the artist supports other community businesses by Buying Locally, Buying Responsibly and Buying American; the artist is actively engaged in some form of energy conservation, water conservation and/or recycling program within its place of business; his or her business or studio is headquartered in the United States; his or her sales and support staff are located in the United States; the artist sources at least 51 percent of the materials used by its business and/or in our goods and products from American-owned and/or U.S.-based companies; the artist has active sustainability and/or recycling programs in place; he or she actively educates its employees as to the benefits and importance of sustainability in the workplace and at home; and he or she actively supports nonprofit and community organizations with monetary or in-kind donations and/or volunteer staffing. The mark consists of three concentric circles. The innermost circle contains a clay pot with stylized hands creating the pot. The right hand extends from the top right side of the circle and grasps the top of the pot with four fingers extending into the top of the pot and the thumb touching the neck of the pot. Three horizontal lines extend from the thumb towards the left side of the pot's neck. The left hand extends from the bottom right of the circle and holds the center of the pot. Eight horizontal lines extend from the hand towards the left side of the pot. The middle circle contains the words "NEW COLONIES TRADING & COMMERCE" above the pot and hands and the word "CERTIFIED" at the bottom below the pot and hands. The outermost circle contains four stylized wheat stalks extending around the circumference.
