The certification mark, as used by authorized persons, certifies SPF is a measure of how much solar energy (UV radiation) is required to begin the degradation of resin grade plastics in exterior building products relative to the amount of solar energy required to produce solar burn, whitening, blistering or cracking of the resin surface. As the SPF value increases, solar protection increases.
