41 ROADIE THE ROAD TURTLE Ambassador of safe driving Edit January 2008 and presented to TEAS Other phrases and statements Roadie can use include Be good don't drink and drink Save lives Please stay off my back Please don't cross the line Please don't drink and drive Stop drunk driving Pass the keys please Get off my back Drive safely drive sober and safe Reminding us not to drink and drive A kind reminder to pass the keys General I was arrested for a DUI when I was 18 years old and it caused me a lot of trouble but it also caused me to do a lot of thinking about this huge epidemic I found out that drunk driving accidents are among the top killers nation wide and around the world I see advertisements all the time on TV from the police large alcohol and organizations like MADD trying to bring awareness to this subject However there was no Ambassador and Spokes figure to unify the cause on the scale that I believe Roadie will Similar to Smokey the Bear being the prevent forest fire Ambassador Roadie Road Turtle is the perfect Ambassador for safe driving and appeals to all ages The idea started from my brother Steve and his friend They called the bumps in the middle of the road that make noise when we drive over them Road Turtles That really stuck with me for some reason Then while driving one day when I was about 25 it came to me all at once and I came up with the entire idea to call it Roadie the Road Turtle and put a safe driving symbol on his back to unify this cause and have a spokes figure that kids and adults all over the world can relate to in very simple way I've kept this secret for 20 years and now I want to share it with everyone because I feel it really is a great idea that can make a difference CONCEPT Roadie will be the world wide Ambassador of safe driving reminding us all to drive safely courteous and sober His symbol will unify the struggle for organizations all over the world such as MADD Large Alcohol and Spirits Police Fire Hospitals Transportation Entertainment facilities Like Smokey the bear is to forest fire awareness and how to prevent them Roadie the Road Turtle is to safe driving awareness and how to prevent accidents and death His symbol would shine light on this topic in a way that all ages can relate to and gain trust in from childhood and throughout the course of life DESCRIPTION He is a Turtle figure as shown in the drawing The shell on his back is a road bump used to separate the lanes for cars on the road There will be a drawing on top of the road bump that depicts safe driving Actual character drawing and Symbol Drawings are not yet complete and are still to be determined These drawings are simply to show my idea and connect it with the road bump and safe driving topic My idea on the Turtle is that he will appear friendly and passive My idea on the symbol on his back is a circle with a diagonal line through it One half circle will have a car driving on a road leading to the other side of the half circle where there is a family waiting in front of the house for the car to arrive safely The symbol or picture says that if you sre safe while driving you will get home to your family Stu Cornick
